"Student Visa" WIP

[July 2024 - Ongoing]
Ongoing character work progress for my thesis project, "Student Visa". The goal of the project is to make a series of real time renders in Unreal Engine 5 of different scenarios that illustrate the life of international students and how hard it is to navigate cultural differences, overcoming language barriers, coping with homesickness and managing academic expectations.

I started by making sculpts in zbrush of the outfits I designed. Then I retopologized in Maya and rigged and skinned the entire modular pack. Textured in Substance Painter by using a combination of PBR and handainted techniques. Final scenarios are being worked on and will be rendered in Unreal Engine. Breakdown renders are made in Marmoset.

Polycount Breakdowns.
Since there were so many pieces I decided to work on a full basemesh and reuse the topology on the clothing in order to ray cast the skin weights during rigging.
